Fanny de Ruiter started playing violin and piano at a young age. Originally from The Netherlands, she received her Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice from the Utrecht Conservatory. Several of her musical pieces were awarded youth prizes, such as with the Flutonicon Concours and the Dutch Wind Ensemble. She was the lead singer of Balkan band Amariszi and later recorded two albums with pop/folk band Snowapple. With Snowapple, she performed in the US, UK, and Germany. Fanny is passionate about music and theatre on location and used to perform as a musician for stiltwalking group Kunst op Stelten. She did production and programming work for Rood Noot, an experimental performing arts venue housed in a historic farm.
As a teacher, she loves to see students of all ages become more confident in playing pieces they thought maybe looked challenging at first. Her favorite things are: introducing students to different styles of music, keeping lessons fun, and adapting her teaching to each student’s individual needs.
