I’ve had an outstanding, fulfilling career teaching in public schools right here in Pennsylvania. I’m known for my endless patience and genuine care, whether working with beginners or more experienced students in the world of musical arts.
My journey with the piano started at the age of 8, and I had the privilege of learning from three amazing teachers throughout my school years. Music runs deep in my family – my mother was a talented lyric soprano, shining on opera stages and local theaters. My German Grandfather, a skilled classical pianist, guided my musical path; he shared his expertise and supported my lessons financially. And let’s not forget my Irish Grandfather, who added his own charm by playing by ear in local pubs and boasting an impressive repertoire.
One of my inspiring teachers, Thelma Roberts, learned extensively in New York under the guidance of Moriz Rosenthal a student of the famous Franz Liszt. These days, I play on a lovely Yamaha baby grand piano and also have a Yamaha electronic keyboard with weighted keys.
What sets me apart as a teacher is my boundless patience and how I make learning the piano a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I cover all the essential aspects like piano theory, scales, keys, dynamics, fingering, and even sight reading. Whether you’re into classical melodies, modern pop tunes, or the groove of jazz, the choice is yours. I welcome students of all ages, but I have a soft spot for beginners and intermediate-level students. And here’s a little secret: I also enjoy playing the violin and have been exploring this passion at Moravian College lately. My focus is on Celtic Fiddling, which brings me immense happiness, and I’m excited to share that with beginner violinists too!
